You might find this very interesting, I guessed am as surprised as you are. Although we are yet to witness any major upset,the days of some of the so called industry bigboys might soon be over.After a few analysis and research I realize that the gap between the so called fresh man and the big artists are very slim.Guys like LIL P,COBBY,HEED DROSS are at top speed,and if the so called big boys are not carefull am afraid we might witness a great change sooner than excpected.How would you explain teenage LIL P in the top 5? That is a pointer to my point and an indicator that kwara music is moving at a fast pace.I would base this month ranking on 5 qualities.
POPULARITY
RAPBERRY AND LIL P are undoubtedly the most popular act in the state at the moment. Rapberry’s popularity is boosted due to the fact that she finished from the university of Ilorin and the fact that she is a genius on stage.LIL P on his part is greatly loved by teenagers. A lot of adult also believe he his very promising. Anybody that has seen him on stage could easily testify to that fact. PETKUZ AND TOQZ came very close in this category but I think petkuz can do better with there huge financial power. They are yet to capitalize on their success as a group, people I believe want to connect with them individually.
LYRICS
BILI gave everyone a run for there money in this category, what do you excpect of a rapper of his caliber? He is a master on the microphone ,if you still have doubt about his abilities you definitely need to check out his spectacular performance at the GLO SHOW.
SHOW
Talking of this category, one name you won’t forget so easily is jerry roland.He his as crazy as his mentor, he could set a million people on fire with his show prowess.RAP BERRY,PETKUZ ALL STAR,LUDDAR B are all a dilemma on stage too.You sure don’t wanna mess with them.
CONSISTENCY
The likes of toqz, bili and even luddar deserve a great bravo. Ruling a state for close to four years is definitely not beans. Although I think they still have great work to do in terms of building on their names. This dudes surely deserve a bow, bravo should be given to each of them.
SUMMARY
The industry is moving at a fast pace and lot of guys ,groups and solo acts are trooping in.
I believe we should witness the emergence of new faces this year and hopefully more of our artists would get into the Lagos main stream market. Till next month when we do another statistical check. Am out of here
