Woman Bites Off Policeman’s Ear (Picture)

This is a report of a policeman, Odion Oifoghe, a corporal attached to Sabo Police Division in Yaba who got his ear bitten off in the course of performing his duties.

Mrs. Gloria Ugonnaya, a 36 year old performed the horrible act in other to dissuade the policeman from arresting her for quarrelling with her neighbour earlier in the morning.

The story according to PM news says that Gloria had a quarrel with her neighbour at their 35, Johnson Street, Onike, Yaba, Lagos residence and the neighbour reported her to the police.

It was said that when the police invited her for questioning, she refused honouring the invitation.
The corporal, Oifoghe therefore decided to go and force her down to the station, not knowing that he will be leaving the environment with only one ear.

We gathered that Gloria and Oifoghe got into a struggle as she refused following him to the station; it was in the process of that that she bit off his ear.

Gloria was arraigned before a Yaba Magistrate’s court yesterday in Lagos and charged with assault.

Police charged her with assault occasioning harm. The offence, according to the police prosecutor, is contrary to and punishable under section 172 of the criminal code, laws of Lagos state, Nigeria, 2011.

Gloria was said to have not felt an iota of remorse for what she did, and even pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to her.
The trial Magistrate, Mrs. S.K. Metapa admitted her to bail in the sum of N50,000 and one surety in like sum.
The matter was adjourned till 12 September, 2012 for mention.

Gloria, we learnt is still remanded in prison custody pending when her bail condition will be perfected.
