The Nigerian music Industry is witnessing a new phase of growth which is indeed good for her.
We have better videos from artists, Better fan base and we saw most of our artist trying to go global in the year ended.This developments are commendable and i can sense the beginning of a new era for African music in general.
However while It is no longer news that our Artists and super celebs are now idols , living Large and are actually getting the connect they deserve.
What is news is the rate at which an average fan overrate this celebrities.
I got caught up in stupid conversation and war of words among my friend last year.Especially with D'banj's fans and fans of artists like Wizkid, Davido and others
Imagine people saying such things as:
- D'banj is better than 2face ?????? - How???
- D'banj is the new father of the Nigerian music Industry???? because????
- Wizkid sings better music than M.I ????? Funny???
- P-Square are losing it???? lol
I got angry most times when i see fans making such stupid and baseless analysis that i told myself i would one day do a write up on all this. I noticed that the Nigerian music Industry is becoming an industry where what sells now is packaging .And that is the only reason why people likes D'banj would succeed in formatting people and getting them so carried away.
Shina Rambo was said to hire people to faint at a show just few days ago [lol],that explains the extent to which this so called celebs can go to deceive mumu fans.
D'banj now talk of Kanye and JayZ everytime he gets the chance to talk to the press and even some of his fans had to admit he was always talking of rolling with foreign artists as if that is the end of the world or as if they where God.
THE QUESTION I CONTINUE TO ASK PEOPLE IS THIS
- Does you featuring a foreign artist means you are ahead of others or produce better music?
- Will featuring JayZ make D'banj sing better than 2FACE????? CAPITAL NO
I listen to a wide range of Nigerian Music and i can say that D'banj's music or any of this packaged artist are no where to be compared to the music of people like ASA,9ICE,M.I OR EVEN 2FACE.
It is a TOTAL DEFEAT if we are to talk of good Quality music with deep messages .
D'BANJ SECRET TRICK
A fan of the koko master once told me he always claims he is a business man and i guess that has been what has actually been working for him.I will like to say i love D'banj no doubt and i was actually his big fan till i noticed he was working too hard to get people's attention.
I know him to be desperate and i know D'banj can pay to get anything so far it gives him more fame and money.But the truth remains ,he is working too hard [ONE OF THE LAW OF POWER STATES THAT YOU SHOULD ALWAYS MAKE YOUR SUCCESS SEEMS EFFORTLESS]
I guessed he failed in making his success effortless because even a blind man would know he is going real extreme to impress people.And thank God he now has people following his footsteps.

BOTTOM LINE
Packaging or no packaging.What actually matter is you lyrical debt and overall quality of music.
I can't imagine an M.I OR 2FACE ALBUM GOING HEAD TO HEAD WITH A D'BANJ ALBUM???
